Neutral Open Primaries:
I just read about Neutral Open Primaries at https://voters.army/neutral-open-primaries/. Finally, something that makes sense! Right now, most races are over before November because primaries lock in safe-seat winners. That’s not fair to voters like me who want real choices.
Neutral Open Primaries use a blanket primary designed to be fair to all parties and candidates. Four candidates advance to the finals. BTR-Score replaces plurality voting in the finals. It is better than plurality voting and Ranked Choice Voting.
Please work to bring Neutral Open Primaries to our elections. I want to see more than just two options; I want independents and third parties to have a chance.
Our current election system is inadequate. Neutral Open Primaries (https://voters.army/neutral-open-primaries/) is a common-sense version of blanket primaries. It would restore competition and increase voter turnout by providing us with real options. Independents and third parties would get a fair shake. Please look at this new idea. Time is running out to save the integrity of our elections.
BTR-Score
I read about a new voting system called BTR-Score in an article about blanket primaries. It's like score voting; give your favorite candidate six points, the worst candidate zero, and rate the others in comparison.
A tournament determines the winner. The candidate with the highest total score wins the top seed; the lowest score is the bottom seed.
The two lowest seeds meet in the first contest of the tournament; the candidate preferred on most ballots wins. If you gave Candidate A four points and Candidate B two points, your vote goes to Candidate A. That winner meets the next lowest seed. This continues until the survivor meets the top seed. That contest elects the winner.
BTR-Score is a Condorcet system, so it will always elect the candidate who can beat all the other candidates one-on-one. If there is no "Beats All" winner, BTR-Score will elect a deserving winner, the champion of the tournament.

Let's be honest, the current system has failed. In most districts, party loyalists pick the winners in the primaries. Neutral Open Primaries would fix that by giving everyone fair shot — Democrats, Republicans, independents, and third parties alike. A blanket primary designed to be fair to all parties and candidates selects four finalists, creating actual competition in the final round.
The finals use BTR-Score voting. It is a Condorcet method, so it will elect the candidate who beats all the other candidates one-on-one. We need to dump plurality voting; it has major problems in every election with over two candidates.

I’m an independent voter. In every election, I feel like my voice is silenced. By the time the general election arrives, the choice is already made. Neutral Open Primaries could give people like me a real say.
To be honest, I never heard of Neutral Open Primaries until I read this article: (https://voters.army/neutral-open-primaries/). Our current system is rigged against third parties and independents. American elections should be fair to all candidates and parties.
Please consider this reform. I want my children to grow up in a democracy where every citizen, not just party insiders, has a voice.

Contact My Politician is free to use, but it requires a login. Messages and replies are sent through the CMP system. CMP listings may include major unelected officials in addition to elected officials. CMP listings usually include local officials, but they might not show which council member is your council member.
