Theocracy & Nationalism

Techno Totalitarianism

Butt Kissing

Authoritarians promise stability, safety and prosperity; we just need to get rid of the scapegoats. This will not solve real problems, but the regime will find new scapegoats as needed. It is possible for authoritarians to run an economy well, but you cannot count on it. If the economy fails, you cannot do anything about it.

Authoritarian forms of government have been common throughout recorded history. Many people want the protection of a strongman. After authoritarian rule is established, these folks are not allowed to change their minds.

The number of authoritarian regimes is increasing. Democratic backsliding orchestrated by a leader who was originally elected in a fair, competitive election is now the most common way of establishing dictatorship.[1]

Theocracy & Nationalism

Theocracy and nationalism are common excuses for authoritarianism.

Theocracy

Theocracy combines the power of religion and the power of government. A bad strategy. Theocratic rulers claim to be anointed by God. Worse, they usually believe their own BS. The leaders of Iran killed thousands of their own citizens. They think they represent Allah, but their actions are evil.

Nationalism

Nationalism is a simple idea, “our group is better than everyone else, so we should run the show and get the benefits.” In a nationalist regime, other groups are, at best, second-class. Nationalism is associated with Hitler, but the basic strategy is ancient. The Roman emperors were nationalists; the citizens of Rome were their favored group.

Techno Totalitarianism

The advancement of surveillance technology and the march of authoritarianism threaten to enslave humanity with techno-totalitarianism.
All authoritarian regimes are likely to descend into techno-totalitarianism by using modern surveillance technology. China is already there. Life in China is like 1984 with Chinese characteristics. Is there any reason to believe that it cannot happen here? For details, please visit Chinese Style Surveillance in America.

Butt Kissing

Most authoritarian leaders are narcissistic; they love having their butts kissed. People who live under authoritarian regimes must lick boots every time they deal with the government. If you are high in the food chain, others may need to lick your boots, but you still need to kiss the butts above you.

Corruption is rampant in authoritarian systems because bribery is the sincerest form of butt kissing.

Democrats & Republicans

Democrats, by definition, support democracy. Republicans, by definition, support representational democracy. We should be able to get along. But our president is not Republican; he is an authoritarian RINO.

Republicans, you can solve the Trump problem by nominating pro-life social conservatives who support representational democracy.
Both parties need to nominate candidates who favor working people and small business over billionaires and giant corporations.

Make American Democracy Greater Than Ever

For 250 years, representational democracy has served us well, but we can improve it:

Traditional Choose 1 voting creates problems in every election with three or more candidates. We fear wasting our vote so we pass up worthy third party candidates. This locks in two party rule.

We can rate every candidate with BTR-Score voting. It is reliable and fair to all parties and candidates. Ranked Choice Voting is not reliable enough.

Let’s elect our president from all 50 states, not a handful of swing states. Choose our president via a true vote of the people. Republicans, if Kamala Harris ran a little better in a few states, she wins the 2024 election while losing the popular vote.

A party that wins 30% of the vote should get 30% of the seats. Establish proportional representation in our legislatures and the US House of Representatives. This will end gerrymandering as we know it.

Why dump democracy when we can MADGE - Make American Democracy Greater than Ever?
